Be Inspired: Sky

I had so many pictures I wanted to use for this blog post that ranged from beach pictures I took on my family vacation to random things I had spotted in the city.  What do you know, I was inspired most by someone else’s photo.  This picture was taken by a co-worker of mine who made it his iPhone backdrop picture.  With so many computer generated images out there, I was sure that this was one of them.  He told me the picture was taken on his iPhone on a recent anniversary trip he had taken with his wife.  They were in the car on their way back from Chicago and he saw this beautiful sky in the rear-view mirror. He was inspired to take a picture of it at their next stop…I was in awe of all the amazing colors from dusty blue to the rich red jewel tones…I was inspired.

3.  Allure of Darkness – Like the silhouette of the dark tree line, this black leather chair is sure to get attention.  Furniture with unique forms are as much sculptural as they are ergonomic.  The Jean Chair by Roberto Lazzeroni is begging you to be lazy.  Use these pieces as a way to make a statement in a space.

4.  The Sky Cube Book – We all find inspiration in different places.  Funny enough, I was introduced to this book by the same co-worker…I think he might like skies!  Sometimes it is refreshing to take a break from the everyday “office” color palette and turn to a vision of darker, richer, bolder hues.   You can find these “cube” books at amazon.com.  Look for “The Sea,” “The Earth” and others.

5.  Weitzner Wallcovering.  As described on their website, these recycled cinema posters are first collected then stripped and then woven into a riot of color hinting at the drama, romance and action of the movies they once advertised. The multi-hued strips reveal intriguing details close-up while creating an all-over texture from a distance that will enhance both residential and commercial design schemes. 70% post-consumer recycled content adds environmental awareness to the plot.

6.  If you want to be daring but are not quiet bold enough to do it in a large area, remember that it is all about finding purpose for color.  Lighting is a great way to be bold without going overboard.  The Caboche Suspension Light from Foscarini would add interest to any room with its overall shape, rich in  color and glass balls that help it glisten and fill the space with golden light!
