Be Inspired
My husband grew up in Lancaster, Ohio and we travel back often to visit his family. Every time we drive past this old barn, I’m in awe of its colors! At first glance it’s an eyesore, but if you look closely it’s a beautiful illustration of nature working wonders. While the owner may not be happy about the toll the weather has taken on their building, I think it has made a boring metal barn…inspiring.

4. Recycled Glass: Push the envelope and search for alternate solutions to ordinary applications. We used a recycled glass counter for the reception desk at Delta Energy’s new HQ in Dublin, Ohio (photos coming soon!). These glass counter tops by Vetrazzo are vibrant in color and also happen to be eco-friendly, being created from discarded glass products. Most of this glass comes from curbside recycling; the warm hues of Alehouse Amber come from – you guessed it – beer bottles! Cubist Clear is made from small prisms of tempered ‘safety’ glass utilized for vehicle windscreens. Find more information about this product at www.vetrazzo.com.
8. Reclaimed Barn Wood: Why cut new trees? Reclaimed barn wood commonly sells for around $8-$12, but can be found for as little as $5-$6 a square foot. Pricing for this type of material depends on wood species and the width/thickness of the plank. This link can direct you to local sustainable solutions like architectural salvage items and reclaimed building materials.
